Types of Thread Inserts

Thread inserts provide permanent, high-quality, wear-resistant internal threads  mainly designed to get installed in drilled holes or molded forms in a simple and quick way. In-fact there are many advantages of using thread inserts.
Depending on the application, Thread insert comes in various types and varieties.
Captive Nut: It comes into two basic styles, cage nut or clip-on nut. It is generally used to attach screws to sheet metal-parts too thin to be threaded. They can be attached, removed and reused with simple hand tools.

Externally Threaded Inserts: They have threads in the inside and outside of the insert. The insert is threaded into a pre-tapped hole or few inserts tap their own threads in a drilled or molded hole. Those inserts that are lock-via-friction or self-tapped are most commonly known by the trademarked names Tap-lock or Speedserts.

Helical Inserts: It is an insert made of coiled wire. These inserts are used to offer stronger threads in soft materials such as zinc die castings, magnesium, wood, aluminum etc. and provides a convenient means of repairing stripped-out threads.

Mold-in Inserts: They are internally threaded and have specially  shaped outer diameter to anchor the insert in plastic. They can be heated and pressed into premade thermoplastics.

Press-fit Inserts: These are internally threaded and have knurled outer diameter. These are pressed into plain hole with an arbor press.
Potted Inserts: It refers to the application of epoxy to fix it to a panel like a sandwich panel or honeycomb which are often used in commercial aircraft.

Reasons to use Thread Insert:
Thread inserts are typically used for soft materials, however driving a screw or bolt  directly into an object can cause lot of damage. Thread insert is placed inside the object after which threaded fastener is driven into the insert, making it easy for a screw or bolt to be driven all the way into it.

Spring washers

Spring washers, also known as disc springs , are a type of mechanical fastener that are commonly used to prevent loosening or to absorb shock or vibration in various applications. They are widely used in automotive, aerospace, industrial, and construction industries. In this blog, we will explore the different types of spring washers, their uses, and advantages. Spring washers Types of Spring Washers There are several types of spring washers available in the market, each with its unique design and function. The following are some of the most commonly used spring washers: Belleville Washers: Belleville washers, also known as conical spring washers, are cone-shaped washers that are commonly used to absorb shock and vibration. They are designed to provide a high spring rate and are often used in applications where space is limited. Wave Washers: Wave washers are disc-shaped washers that have a wave-like structure. They are used to absorb shock and vibration and are often used in

Wedge lock washers - nord lock

Wedge lock washers, also known as Nord-Lock washers , are specialized fasteners designed to prevent bolts and nuts from loosening due to vibrations or dynamic loads. These washers use a unique wedge-locking design to ensure that the fastener remains tightly secured, even under extreme conditions. In this article, we will explore the benefits and applications of wedge lock washers, as well as how they work and how to choose the right size for your project. How Wedge Lock Washers Work Wedge lock washers work by using a pair of interlocking wedges that prevent the bolt or nut from turning. When the fastener is tightened, the washers flatten and the wedges create a tension that keeps the bolt or nut from loosening due to vibration or dynamic loads. The unique design of wedge lock washers allows them to maintain their locking effect even under extreme conditions, such as high temperatures, harsh chemicals, and heavy loads. They are particularly effective in applications where the
